Clay Straus Jenkinson (born February 4 1955, in Dickinson, North Dakota) is a prominent American Humanities researcher, writer and teacher. He is currently director at The Dakota Institute, where the public radio station hosts his own show, The Thomas Jefferson Hour, and produces documentaries, symposiums as well as literary and artistic projects. He teaches in Dickinson State University and Bismarck State College.

He is also an official Rhodes scholar and a Danforth Scholar. Jenkinson was a senior fellow at the Center for Digital Government, located in California as well as a scholar-in-residence in Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon from 2002-2006 and Roosevelt scholars-in-residence from Dickinson State University from 2005-2008. In 2004, Jenkinson was inducted into the Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame, a signature event of Norsk Hostfest.
